SUBJECT: The 5 Annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit ZD
This Letter to Commission (LTC) is to inform you of the upcoming 5 Annual Southeast Florida
Regional Climate Leadership Summit on Thursday, November 7 through Friday, November 8 in
Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Summit will focus on the challenges and strategies for responding
to the impacts of climate change. For more information or to register for the Summit, please visit

Summit highlights will include discussion panels focusing on the recovery from Super -storm
Sandy, as well as real estate, development and insurance in Florida; a workshop on innovative
tools for local adaptation; and a Coastal Communities Town Hall featuring members of
Congress and state legislators.
This year's Summit is hosted by the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact in
partnership with Broward County and 'the City of Fort Lauderdale. The Southeast Florida
Regional Climate Change Compact represents a joint commitment by Palm Beach, Broward,
Miami -Dade, and Monroe Counties to partner in mitigating the causes of climate change and
adapting to its anticipated consequences. In February 2013, the City Commission approved the
implementation of the Regional Climate Action Plan (RCAP), which provides a framework for
integrating climate adaptation and mitigation strategies into existing regional and local
government systems, and endorsed the Mayor's Climate Action Pledge.
