The Administration is pleased to inform you that the City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation D-epa rent-,in
partnership with Professional Course Management (PCM), the City's golf management car)1 pag will be
hosting the 3 annual South Beach International Amateur Golf Tournament(SBIA) on Tuesday, December
17th through Sunday, December 22nd,2013, at the Miami Beach and Normandy Shores Golf Clubs.The Co-
Chairmen of this amateur championship will be the world famous golf instructor Jim Mclean and Johnny
LaPonzinna, past President and Hall of Fame Inductee of the South Florida Professional Golf Association
(PGA).
The 2012 South Beach International Amateur became a"Major"amateur in just its second year of existence with
its ranking of 25th in the world. In its first year (2011) it became the highest ranking inaugural amateur(47th)
since fields have been measured. It is projected that, based on the strength of this year's field, the
tournament will move up to 20th in the worldwide rankings.
In 2012, the starting field of contestants was comprised of 198 qualified amateurs, including 48 of the
world's "Top 600", representing 23 countries. The 2013 starting field will be made up of 204 of the world's
top amateurs, including 55 of the "Top 600". It should also be noted that the event again had a waiting list
of 60 golfers. After the preliminary rounds, on Thursday, and Friday, the top seventy-two(72) players, plus
ties, move on to the final two rounds at the Miami Beach Golf Club. The 2012 SBIA generated over 900
hotel room nights, and it is anticipated that number will be exceeded this year.
The following is a schedule for this exciting tournament:
SOUTH BEACH INTERNATIONAL AMATEUR-TOURNAMENT ITINERARY
• Tuesday December 17th -Practice rounds begin at 9:30 am at both courses.
• Wednesday, December 18°i-Practice rounds at both courses
• Thursday, December 19th -Round 1 tee times begin at both courses at 7:30A.M.
• Friday, December 20th -Round 2 tee times at both courses at 7:30A.M.
• Saturday, December 21St -Round 3 tee times at the MBGC, 8:OOA.M.
• Sunday, December 22nd -Round 4 tee times at MBGC, 8:OOA.M.
• Awards Ceremony at approximately 4:30P.M. at the MBGC
Please note, beginning Tuesday, December 17th through Friday, December 20th, 2013, both golf courses will
be closed for play to club members and the general public.The Normandy Shores Golf Club will reopen on
Saturday, December 21 St on a regular schedule, and the Miami Beach Golf Club will reopen for member and
public play on Monday, December 23rd, 2013.
