A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ADOPTING
THE CERTIFICATE OF THE RESULTS OF THE
NOVEMBER 6, 2001 GENERAL ELECTION FOR THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH.
WHEREAS, as a result of action taken by the Miami Beach City Commission on September
20,2001, authorizing composition of the City of Miami Beach Canvassing Board for the City's
November 6, 2001 General Election, City Manager designee Mayra Diaz Buttacavoli, Clerk of the
Miami-Dade Circuit and County Courts Harvey Ruvin, and Circuit Court Judge Rosa Rodriguez
acted as the City Commission-designated Canvassing Board and were present at the tabulation of
the returns of the General Election as duly conducted by the Election Department of Miami-Dade
County; and
WHEREAS, the results of the November 6, 2001 General Election have been certified; and
WHEREAS, the candidates for Mayor and City Commissioner of the City of Miami Beach,
Groups I, II, and III have received the number of votes cast as reflected more specifically within the
Certification of Elections attached hereto as Composite Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that having canvassed the
returns of the November 6, 2001 General Election of the City of Miami Beach, it does hereby adopt
the certificate as to the results of said General Election and it is hereby ordered that the Certificates
of Election and this Resolution be recorded in the minutes of the meeting as a permanent record of
the results of said election.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 7th day of November, 2001.

We, Harvey Ruvin, Clerk of the Miami-Dade Circuit and County Courts, Circuit Court
Judge Rosa Rodriguez, and Mayra Diaz Buttacavoli, Assistant City Manager, City
Manager's designee, acting as designees of the Miami Beach City Commission and
serving as the City of Miami Beach Canvassing Board for the City of Miami Beach
November 6, 2001 General and Special Elections, do hereby certify that we have made
an examination of the returns of the General and Special Elections held in Miami Beach,
Florida, on November 6, 2001, as conducted by the Clerks and Inspectors who were
duly appointed by the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections; and as reflected by
certification received from the Supervisor of Elections of Miami-Dade County, Florida,
such examination having been made solely, exclusively and entirely from such returns
and certifications; and DO HEREBY CERTIFY that as a result of said examination we
have found and DO HEREBY DECLARE the results of said election to be as follows:
THAT there were a total of 13,039 votes cast.

The attached Resolutions formally adopt the certificates of results of the City of Miami Beach
November 6, 2001 General Election and call for the City of Miami Beach November 13, 2001 Run-Off
Election, made necessary as a result of no candidate for Mayor and Commission Group ill from the
General Election having received a majority of votes cast, Accordingly, and pursuant to Miami Beach City
Charter Section 2.01, a Run-Off Election shall be called for November 13, 2001 between the two
candidates for Mayor and Commission Groups ill receiving the highest number ofvDtes in the General
Election,
