A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, WAIVING THE SPACE RENTAL
FEE AT THE COLONY THEATRE FOR THE SCREENING OF "JUST
GENDER," A DOCUMENTARY FILM HOSTED BY SAFEGUARDING
AMERICAN VALUES FOR EVERYONE (SAVE) ON JUNE 259 2014.
WHEREAS, "Just Gender' is a documentary film that explores the common.myths and
misunderstandings about transgender people, discrimination, hardships and brutality; and
WHEREAS, this educational film will help educate the public and create safer spaces for
people who are transgender; and
WHEREAS, a Reception and Film Screening of "Just Gender" will be hosted by SAVE
and held at the Colony Theatre on June 25, 2014 and, in exchange for a waiver of the rental fee
at the Colony Theater, which is valued at $650, SAVE will list the City as a sponsor of the event,
which will include the City's logo on all marketing and press releases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby waive space rental charges at the Colony Theatre for the Reception and
Film Screening of"Just Gender," a documentary film hosted-by SAVE on June 25, 2014.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21St day of May, 2014.

Dear Commissioner Steinberg,
SAVE is hosting the Miami-Dade Premier of the documentary, Just Gender. The
film explores the common myths and misunderstandings about transgendered
people. The documentary also touches on the discrimination, hardships and
brutality resulting from those misconceptions and prejudices, including the
numerous deaths caused by hate each year.
I am writing this letter to request that the City of Miami Beach waive the building
rental fees at the Colony Theater for the premier of Just Gender. In exchange for
the rental fee waiver the City will be considered a sponsor of the event, which
include logo inclusion on all marketing and press releases. SAVE requests the
City assist in promoting the film through the City's marketing channels.
SAVE feels that this educational film will help educate the masses and create
safer spaces for people who are transgender.
We are hoping to premier the film on Wed, June 25th at 6:30 P.M. and hope that
the City of Miami Beach will lend the location and its name.
