WHEREAS, there is a need to create certain positions, abolish certain positions, change the titles of certain positions, and change the salary ranges of certain positions in order to ensure that the City has an employee classification and compensation system which is fair and equitable and otherwise meets the objectives of the City. SECTION 3: SEVERABILITY. If any section, subsection, clause, or provision of this ordinance is held invalid, the remainder shall not be affected by such invalidity. SECTION 4: CODIFICATION. It is the intention of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this ordinance shall become and be made a part of the Code of the City of Miami Beach, Florida. The sections of this ordinance may be renumbered or relettered to accomplish such intention, and the word "ordinance" may be changed to "section", "article", or other appropriate word.. 7 SECTION 5: EFFECTIVE DATE This ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days after adoption. Establishing the classifications below would provide for appropriate titles and salary ranges for individuals performing the following duties: Employee Benefits Specialist ($36,873 - $58,996) - responsible administrative work in the group insurance section of the Risk Management Division. Permit Clerk II ($22,087 - $31,959) - specialized supervisory and clerical work processing construction permit applications in the Building Department. Senior Plumbing Inspector ($33,934 -$54,294) - responsible, administrative, supervisory, and technical work in the Building Department inspecting new and existing plumbing installations and reviewing construction plans and specifications. Service Supervisor ($24,341 -$38,945) - responsible supervisory work in the cleaning and maintenance of pedestrian areas and public facilities. The following vacant classifications are being abolished because the functions are no longer being performed or are being performed by another classification: Fleet Operations Supervisor I, Maintenance Mechanic, Park Ranger, Parking field Supervisor, ParkinglEvents Attendant, Recreation Operations Mechanic, and Tree Maintenance Assistant Supervisor.
