A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, WAIVING SPECIAL EVENT
PERMIT FEES IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $13,190.75 FOR SELECT
ART FAIR 2014 TO BE HELD ON DECEMBER 2-7, 2014 IN NORTH
BEACH.
WHEREAS, in January 2014, the City Administration began efforts to develop a North
Beach Economic Development and Revitalization Strategy Plan; and
WHEREAS, in March 2014, Mayor Philip Levine created the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Panel
on North Beach Revitalization; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Panel on North Beach Revitalization has met
weekly and recommended that the City waive special event fees for events that take place in
North Beach as a means to incentivize event producers to host events in the area; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Panel on North Beach Revitalization believes
hosting a wide variety of special events will enhance the offerings available for the local
residents while also attracting visitors to the area; and
WHEREAS, on April 23, 2014, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2014-
28560 establishing a North Beach Special Event Incentive Program designed to attract events
to the North Beach area of the City; and
WHEREAS, the Select Art Fair 2014 will be held in North Beach December 2-7, 2014
and meets all of the criteria established by the City Commission in Resolution No. 2014-28560,
except for the 501(c)3 requirement; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission believes it is in the best interest of the City to waive
certain special event fees for Select Art Fair 2014 in order to stimulate event activity in the North
Beach neighborhood.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby waive special event permit fees in the total amount of$13,190.75 for Select
Art Fair 2014 to be held on December 2-7, 2014 in North Beach.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19TH day of November, 2014.
