SUBJECT: FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT), FM 249911 ALTON
ROAD — FULL ROADWAY RECONSTRUCTION INCLUDING DRAINAGE,
EARTHWORK, ASPHALT, CONCRETE, UTILITIES, INCLUDING THE
INSTALLATION OF THE 5111 STREET PUMP STATION AND RELATED FEATURES.
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide a Florida Department of Transportation
(FDOT) construction project notification of an upcoming lane closure on Alton Road, scheduled
to be implemented this coming Monday, April 6.
Alton road will be closed between 5th and 6th Street, while the contractor rebuilds a section of
the roadway, including the installation of a new pump station. Two detours will be available for
South Bound traffic. Those wanting to leave the beach will be directed to West Avenue at 8th
Street. It is critical that free flow right turn on West Avenue and 5th Street is maintained.
A second detour will be offered for motorists who wish to continue South on Alton Road. Those
motorists will be detoured at 8th Street to use Lenox Avenue. This work is currently scheduled
for two months.
