SUBJECT: Opening of Residential Housing rogram Waitlist
The purpose of this Letter To Commission is to advise the Mayor and Commission that the
City will be opening its initial Residential Housing Program waitlist beginning Monday, April
27, 2015 at 8am.
The City will be accepting online applications from April 27th through Friday, May 1, 2015 at
3pm for people seeking to reside in the City's affordable housing buildings, including:
• London House Apartments (scheduled to open February 2016 with one, two and
three bedroom units)
• Lottie Apartments (with two and three bedroom units)
• Madeleine Village Apartments (studios)
• Neptune Apartments (studios)
Anyone needing.assistance in completing the online application (which will take about three
minutes to complete) can stop by the following City locations for assistance:
• Answer Center(first floor of City Hall)
• Office of Housing &Community Development(555— 17th Street)
Eligible participants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Earn no more than 80 percent Area Median Income (AMI)
• Legal residents of the United States
Applicants will be assigned a registration number upon successful application. Prospective
tenants will undergo a certification process to verify income, obtain the required
documentation required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD),
and review criminal background histories to ensure appropriate placement.
The City expects a high response and has worked closely with Information Technology to
ensure that we can adequately accommodate all applicants. In order to ensure equity, the
City will randomly select 1,000 applications to form the City's initial waitlist. Tenants will be
processed in numerical order as appropriate units become vacant. The waitlist(which will list
applicants by their registration number)will be posted online to ensure transparency.
Attached please find the English and Spanish advertisements that will be placed in The
Miami Herald. In addition, the City will be distributing flyers to feeder pattern schools and
notifying its service partner agencies.

Applications Being Accepted for the City of Miami Beach Affordable Housing Program Waitlist
The City of Miami Beach Office of Housing & Community Development (HCD) will be accepting online
applications for the initial tenant waitlist for its Affordable Housing Program beginning Monday,April 27, 2015
at 8am through Friday, May 1, 2015 at 3pm. The Housing Program serves individuals and families earning up to
80 percent Area Median Income (AMI). The City is required to ensure that a minimum of 25 percent of its
affordable housing units are occupied by Very Low Income households earning up to 50 percent AMI.
Please note that this program is not affiliated with the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.

www.miamibeachfl.gov from Monday,April 27,2015 at 8am through Friday,May 1,2015 at 3pm. No applications
will be accepted after 3pm on Friday, May 1,2015.
If you need assistance completing the online application,please visit the Answer Center, Miami Beach City Hall,
1700 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida 33139.The Answer Center is open Monday through Friday,
8:30am—5pm and is closed for lunch 12:30m to 1:30pm.
To request this material in alternate format,sign language interpreter(five-day notice required),information on
access for persons with disabilities,and/or any accommodation to review any document or participate in any city-
sponsored proceedings,call 305.604.2489 and select 1 for English or 2 for Spanish,then option 6;TTY users may

Only one application per person will be accepted. Applicants will receive a receipt number as confirmation of the
successful online application.All applications will go through a computerized lottery process and will be assigned a
randomly-selected ranking number that will determine the applicant's placement on the waitlist.The City will only
accept 1,000 applications selected randomly from all submitted applications to comprise its initial residential
housing program waitlist.
