SUBJECT: Great Park Summit 2016
The purpose of this LTC is to notify the City Commission that the Parks and Recreation
Department attended the Great Park Summit on Friday, April 15th and was awarded 2nd
place in the Health Category of the Power of Parks Photo Contest; picture attached.
The Great Park Summit convenes elected officials, civic leaders, environmental
stewards and health and wellness experts every two years, to discuss strategies on how
to enhance our community's quality of life through great parks, open spaces and
greenways. The program showcases the importance of having seamless, sustainable
and safe parks and open space systems.
The Department relished in a wealth of knowledge supplied by motivational speakers,
who all had the same message: The Power of Parks is in our hands.
