SUBJECT: Promotion of Aleksandr Boksner
I am pleased to announce the promotion of Aleksandr Boksner from First Assistant City
Attorney to Deputy City Attorney. Alek was the Chief Assistant County Attorney with
Marion County, Florida, before joining the City Attorney's Office in 2009, and was an
Assistant Chief for the County Court Criminal Division of the State Attorney's Office of
the Eleventh Judicial Circuit.
Alek has successfully litigated various matters on behalf of the City, and has been
instrumental in the proper enforcement and compliance with the City's Code of Laws
and Ordinances. He has overseen the prosecution of code enforcement cases before
the City's Special Masters, drafted extensive enforcement legislation that directly
impacts quality of life offenses, and served as the City's Legal Advisor to the Police
Department.
Alek will continue to be responsible for defending those legal challenges that the City
will face from its governmental business practices, which will include issues pertaining
to liability and sovereign immunity, regulatory statutory compliance and enforcement,
public records and government in the sunshine laws, legislative process and enactment,
and any other legal matters that stem directly from civil litigation surrounding the City's
governmental business operations.
