2016-29434 Reso RESOLUTION NO. 2016-29434 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF. MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA REQUESTING THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TO REVIEW THE SECURITY ALLOCATION NEEDS AT MIAMI BEACH SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. WHEREAS, Miami Beach Senior High School ("MBSHS") has over 2,400 students on its campus; and WHEREAS, the number of full-time security monitors at MBSHS is less than is provided at other public schools in the City of Miami Beach such as Nautilus Middle School, which has less than half as many students as MBSHS and is on a smaller campus; and WHEREAS, the level of security provided to the students that attend MBSHS is of utmost concern to the Mayor and City Commission of the City of Miami Beach and the allocation of security personnel at MBSHS should be reviewed by The School Board of Miami-Dade County and allocated based on criteria such as student population and size of campus. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the Mayor and City Commission hereby respectfully request The School Board of Miami-Dade County to review the security allocation needs at Miami Beach Senior High School and to allocate security personnel on the campus based on criteria such as student population and campus size. The Committee for Quality Education urges the Mayor and Commission to support the above request.
