Morales, City Manager DATE: June 17, 2016 SUBJECT: Upcoming Parks and Recreation July 2016 Events Since 1985, America has recognized July as the nation's official Park and Recreation Month. Aside from providing vital outlets, parks and recreation programming economically supercharges our communities, improves the environment and provides equitable public spaces for all. In honor of Miami Beach's 67 years of recreation, the City of Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating its superheroes and superpowers by hosting a whirl of smashing events throughout the month July. The department will also offer Miami Beach residents free access to the Scott Rakow Youth Center and North Shore Park Youth Center Fitness Centers for the whole month, promoting overall health and wellness in the City. In an effort to get City employees involved, the Parks and Recreation Department will be surprising a few departments with Pop-up Recreation sessions. Event: Movie in the Pool (Amazing Spider Man 2) Date: Friday, July 1, 2016 Time: 8:00 p.m. Location: Scott Rakow Youth Center Pool Chase away the summer heat by enjoying an outdoor movie at the pool at Scott Rakow. Fun for the whole family! Event: Wonder Doggie Date: Saturday, July 9, 2016 Time: 10:00 a.m. — 1:00 p.m. Location: Washington Avenue Dog Park (201 2nd Street) Come show off your dog's superpowers! Costume contests and best trick contest will be offered for both you and your pooch. Join us to enjoy a day of music, a photo booth, giveaways, a splash pad, doggie pool and more. Event: Baby Splash Bash Date: Friday, July 15, 2016 Time: 10:00 a.m. — 12 p.m. Location: Flamingo Park Pool Parents and children under 4 are invited to join us for a morning of summer fun filled with music, games, refreshments and more! Event: Family Fun Night Date: Friday, July 29, 2016 Time: 6:00 p.m. —8:00 p.m. Locations: Flamingo Park (11th Street & Jefferson Avenue) Scott Rakow Youth Center(2700 Sheridan Avenue) North Shore Park Youth Center(501 72nd Street) Families will enjoy relay races, games, snacks, fitness pop-ups, arts and crafts and more! Superhero themed giveaways and entertainment will be offered. Don't miss a chance to bring out your friends and family for a night of fun! Event: Super Zumbathon Date: Saturday, July 30, 2016 Time: 6:30 p.m. Location: North Shore Bandshell (7275 Collins Avenue) Show off your superhero dance moves! Join Zumba instructor Fernando from the City's Zumba program for a superhero style Zumbathon at North Shore Bandshell.
