SUBJECT: Verification Of Petition Signatures — Presentation By Save Miami Beach 2016 Of A
Petition To The City Commission To Submit To City Electors An Amendment To
Section 1.03 Of The City Charter.
Pursuant to Section 7.04 of the City Charter, the City Clerk has determined that the petition papers that
were formally presented to the City Commission, via the City Clerk, on July 5, 2016 by "Save Miami
Beach 2016"Chairperson Daniel Ciraldo are in proper form. You may view a copy of the petition papers
submitted at: http://www.miamibeachfl.gov/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=88219
Pursuant to Section 7.04 of the City Charter and Section 6.03(A)of the Code of Miami-Dade County,the
City Clerk has transmitted the original signed petitions to the Miami-Dade County Elections Department,
for the purpose of obtaining a determination whether the petition as a whole has been signed by ten
percent (10%) of the qualified electors of the City of Miami Beachl (See Exhibit "A")
The City Clerk has requested that the Miami-Dade County Elections Department complete the certificate
as to the petition's sufficiency as to the requisite number of signatures on or before July 13, 2016.
Upon receiving notification from the Miami-Dade County Elections Department,the City Clerk shall then
promptly forward the certificate on to the petition's initiator and shall present the certificate to the City
Commission.

Dear Ms. McClain:
Enclosed are the original petition forms received from Save Miami Beach 2016, a political committee
organized on March 9, 2016. This petition seeks to amend the Charter in the City of Miami Beach. The
Miami-Dade County Code, under Section 6.03 (A), requires the verification of ten percent(10%) of the
qualified electors of the City in order for the petition to be sufficient. Please verify signatures in
accordance with Miami Beach Charter Section 7.04, Miami-Dade County Code Section 6.03 (A) and •
State Law.
Save Miami Beach 2016 submitted the original petition forms to the Office of the City clerk on July 5,
2016.
The Miami Beach City Charter is silent as to the number of days by which the County must verify the
submitted signatures.- However, I respectfully request for the Miami-Dade Election Department to
determine on or before July 13, 2016, whether the required number of valid signatures was obtained.
Please return the original petition forms to us along with a certificate certifying the number of valid
signatures.
