Commission of the Village of Key Biscayne on April 12, 2016.

Recognizing My Brother's Keeper Community Initiative Program; Providing For
An Effective Date.
The Village of Key Biscayne has requested that a copy of this resolution be provided to the
Miami Beach Mayor and Commissioners.

RESOLUTION NO. 2016-11
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING
MY BROTHER'S KEEPER COMMUNITY INITIATIVE
PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in September 2014, President Barack Obama launched My Brother's Keeper
Challenge Initiative to help every boy and young man of color to reach their potential;and
WHEREAS, the Miami My Brother's Keeper Community Challenge encourages
communities to implement a coherent cradle-to-college-and-career strategy for improving the life
outcomes of all young people to ensure that they may reach their full potential regardless of who they
are, where they come from, or the circumstances into which they are born; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Key Biscayne wishes to be a part of the Miami My Brother's
Keeper Community Challenge Initiative and provide its support to the programs developed to meet
that initiative.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Recitals Adopted, Each of the above stated recitals are hereby adopted,
confirmed and incorporated herein.
Section 2. Village Support. The Village Council, on behalf of the Village of Key
Biscayne and all of its residents, wish to express its support of the Miami My Brother's Keeper
Community Challenge Initiative and to join in and participate with other public and private groups,
which share in the vision of the President and all those who have joined in the effort, including
hundreds of local government leaders throughout the United States.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution Shall; be effective immediately upon
adoption..
PASSED AND.ADOPTED.this 12th . day of April, 2016..
