A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY
CLERK TO EXECUTE A CORPORATE RATE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AND THE WASHINGTON PARK HOTEL, LOCATED
AT 1050 WASHINGTON AVENUE, MIAMI BEACH.
WHEREAS, the Washington Park Hotel is located at 1050 Washington Avenue, Miami
Beach, directly adjacent to the Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD) headquarters, and is
therefore convenient for staff, training partners and similar; and
WHEREAS, the Hotel's executive independently, and without approach from the MBPD,
contacted the MBPD to offer a corporate rate to the City of Miami Beach for all of its visiting
trainers and those attending such training sessions, this offer being dependent upon a signed
Corporate Rate Agreement between the Washington Park Hotel and the City of Miami Beach;
and
WHEREAS, the MBPD wishes to include the Washington Park Hotel as an option for its
staff, training partners and course attendees to reside while attending official business at the
MBPD headquarters; and
WHEREAS, the Corporate Rate Agreement shall include duration, rates, eligibility and
other detailed terms and conditions, including hold harmless and indemnification clauses
applicable to the City of Miami Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, hereby authorize the City
Manager and City Clerk to execute a Corporate Rate Agreement between the City of Miami
Beach and the Washington Park Hotel, located at 1050 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach.

RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the Resolution.
ANALYSIS
The Washington Park Hotel is located at 1050 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, directly
adjacent to the Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD) headquarters. It recently reopened
following a long period of closure during which it was completely renovated. Upon reopening,
the Director of Sales and Marketing — Mr. Ken Tutt— contacted the MBPD to offer reduced rates
to the Department for official guests attending law enforcement training sessions and
conferences hosted by the MBPD. Due to its location, the MBPD made further inquiries with Mr.
Tutt to establish the proposed rates and ancillary costs (resort tax etc.).
The Washington Park Hotel subsequently provided a basic Corporate Rate Agreement to
illustrate the overall costs, included and excluded items, and proposed duration of the
Agreement.As a result, the MBPD wishes to include the Washington Park Hotel as an option for
City of Miami Beach staff, training partners and course attendees.
The full Agreement, once written and executed, will include duration, rates, eligibility and other
detailed terms and conditions, including hold harmless and indemnification clauses applicable to
the City of Miami Beach.
CONCLUSION
The Corporate Rate Agreement will provide an additional opportunity for the City of Miami Beach
to benefit from reduced costs. It is therefore recommended that the Mayor and City
Commission adopt this Resolution and authorize the drafting and execution of the Agreement.
