SUBJECT: Upcoming Parks and Recreation October 2016 Events
October kicks off a fantastic fall season as we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage
Month and "spook-tacular" good times with our Halloween events.
Event: Hispanic Heritage Festival
Date: Friday, October 7, 2016
Time: 6:00 p.m. — 9:00 p.m.
Location: North Shore Park (501 72 Street)
Savor the taste of traditional Latin food and dabble in a game of dominoes at the
Hispanic Heritage Festival! Carnival rides will also be on site as friends and families
dance the night away to music and live entertainment. Admission is free, carnival ride
tickets and refreshments will be for sale.
Event: Open Play Indoor Soccer
Date: Kicks off Saturday, October 8, 2016
Time: 9:30 a.m. — 10:30 a.m. (Ages 9-11) 1 10:30 a.m. — 11:30 a.m. (Ages 12-14)
Location: North Shore Park Youth Center(501 72 Street)
Beginning October 8th, and for the proceeding 6 weeks, MB Parks will host open play
soccer. Players will need to wear sneakers, and shin-guards are highly recommended.
No registration is required. Admission is free for residents and $5 for non-residents.
Event: Lights On After-school
Date: Thursday, October 20, 2016
Time: After-school
Locations: Flamingo Park (999 11 Street), Scott Rakow Youth Center (2700 Sheridan
Avenue), North Shore Park Youth Center(501 72 Street)
Lights on Afterschool is a nationwide event celebrating After-school programs and
their important role in the lives of children. After-school sites will paint lightbulbs crafts
to "shed light" on the importance of the program. The crafts will be displayed at all sites.
Event: Social Club Halloween Party(for adults with developmental disabilities)
Date: Saturday, October 22, 2016
Time: 1:30 p.m. —3:30 p.m.
Location: North Shore Park Youth Center Auditorium (501 72 street)
Guests are invited to wear their scariest costume and dance to Halloween music hits.
There will be a costume contest and prizes will be awarded to the top three winners. All
adult Special Population participants are welcome to attend.
Event: Seniors Halloween Lunch
Date: Friday, October 28, 2016
Time: 12:00 p.m. — 3:00 p.m.
Location: UNIDAD Senior Center(7251 Collins Ave)
The City of Miami Beach and UNIDAD invites you to attend a ghoulishly delightful lunch!
Senior can sign up for free by visiting UNIDAD or calling UNIDAD 305-867-0051.
Costumes encouraged.
Event: Safe Night of Fright
Date: Saturday, October 29, 2016
Time: 4:00 p.m. —6:30 p.m. Movie starts at sundown
Location: North Shore Park Youth Center (501 72 street)
Enjoy a safe night of fright with a movie in the park and "trunk or treat". Admission is free
and refreshments will be for sale.
Event: Play Time Halloween Carnival
Date: Monday, October 31, 2016
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Location: South Pointe Park (1 Washington Avenue) and Normandy Isle Park (7030
Trouville Esplanade)
Toddler carnival games, crafts and Halloween treats are sure to make this day a howling
good time! Open to Play Time participants.
Event: Halloween Happenings Haunted House
Date: Monday, October 31, 2016
Time: 6:00 p.m. —9:00 p.m.
Location: Scott Rakow Youth Center(2700 Sheridan Avenue)
Join MB Parks on Halloween night, if you dare! There will be rides, trick-or-treat street,
carnival games and a newly expanded Haunted House! Admission for children is $5 and
each additional Haunted House ticket is $2, cash only. Refreshments will be for sale.
