SUBJECT: NOTICE TO MIAMI BEACH VOTERS THAT THE STRAW BALLOT QUESTION
REGARDING ALCOHOL REGULATIONS FOR OCEAN DRIVE BETWEEN 5TH - 15TH
STREETS HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN.
The Miami-Dade County Elections Department has acknowledged receipt of the City's Resolution
withdrawing the Straw Ballot Question regarding alcohol regulations for Ocean Drive between 5th - 15th
Streets. The Elections Department will be placing the attached notice at all Early Voting sites, in all
Miami Beach precincts on Election Day, and included with all future Vote-by-Mail Ballots processed for
Miami Beach voters, informing Miami Beach voters that the Straw Ballot Question has been withdrawn
and although the Straw Ballot Question will appear on the ballot a vote cast on the Question will not
count.
Even though the results for the withdrawn Straw Ballot Question will not be released with the Official
Results, they will be available after Election night to the City and the public as a public record, since the
Question was not removed by the August 30, 2016 deadline. To that end, any votes cast for the
withdrawn Straw Ballot Question will not be displayed on the online Election Night results webpage.
Once the Official Results are certified, the Office of the City Clerk will receive: (a) the Official Results for
the active ballot content at the time of the election and (b) a Supplemental Report with all City ballot
contents (including any votes cast for the Straw Ballot Question).
