LTC # 446-2016 LETTER TO COMMISSION TO: Mayor Philip Levine and Membe s of the City Commission FROM: Jimmy L. Morales, ity Manag r DATE: October 20, 2016 SUBJECT: MIAMI BEACH T''OLLEY AND MIAMI-DADE TRANSIT CIRCULATOR RIDERSHIP REPORT(FY201 • 4T" QUARTER) The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to report ridership figures for the City of Miami Beach Trolley System and Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (MDTPW)circulators during the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year 2016, from July 1 to September 30, 2016. As illustrated in the attached ridership report (Attachment A), the North Beach Loop observed an average daily ridership of 2,540 passengers during this quarter. The overall ridership of the North Beach Loop service during the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year 2015/16 was 233,745 passengers. This represents an approximate 5.7% increase in ridership over the previous quarter and 14% increase in comparison to the same quarter of the previous Fiscal Year (Attachment B). The overall ridership of the temporary Alton- West Loop during the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year 2015/16 was 100,823 passengers. This represents an approximate 4.2% increase in ridership over the previous quarter and 19% increase in comparison to the same quarter of the previous Fiscal Year. The City of Miami Beach trolley system provided transit service to a total of 334,568 passengers during the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year 2015/16, and cumulatively close to 2.5 million passengers from inception to the end of the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year 2015/16. In addition to the City's trolley system, the County operates two (2) circulator routes entirely within City boundaries (the South Beach Local (SBL) and Route 115/117). Ridership totals for the months of July, August and September have not yet been published by MDTPW. The County ridership figures for fourth quarter will be included in the next quarterly ridership report and issued via LTC. Based on the third quarter ridership data for Fiscal Year 2015/16, the County circulator service has experienced a 16% decrease in ridership for the South Beach Local and 35% decrease in ridership for Route 115/117 as compared to the third quarter of the previous fiscal year(Attachment B). Overall ridership information for both the City's trolley system and the County's SBL and Route 115/117 for previous fiscal years has been included in Attachment C for reference.
