A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RETROACTIVELY ACCEPTING AN IN-KIND
CONTRIBUTION FROM THE SAGAMORE HOTEL, WITH A VALUE OF
APPROXIMATELY $1,200, FOR THE SAGAMORE'S SPONSORSHIP OF THE
ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH ANNUAL OFFICIAL BRUNCH.
WHEREAS, in 2016, the City of Miami Beach hosted the Art Basel Miami Beach Annual
Official Brunch; and
WHEREAS, Art Basel Miami Beach has become the preeminent contemporary art fair in
the western hemisphere, and an established destination for artists, galleries, collectors,
museum groups, and other individuals interested in top quality art; and
WHEREAS, the City secured an in-kind contribution from the Sagamore Hotel, to
underwrite the cost of the Art Basel Miami Beach Annual Official Brunch; and
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends that the City Commission retroactively
approve and accept the contribution, with a value of approximately $1,200, as the Sagamore's
sponsorship contributed significantly to the success of the Official Brunch event.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby retroactively accept an in-kind contribution from the Sagamore Hotel, with a
value of approximately $1,200, for the Sagamore's sponsorship of the Art Basel Miami Beach
Annual Official Brunch.

THE ACCEPTANCE OF $1,200 DOLLARS IN SPONSORSHIP FOR THE ART
BASEL MIAMI BEACH ANNUAL OFFICIAL BRUNCH.
RECOMMENDATION
The Administration recommends accepting the sponsorship.
ANALYSI
Each year the City of Miami Beach hosts the Art Basel Miami Beach Annual Official Brunch. Art
Basel Miami Beach brings thousands of residents and tourists together to enjoy great temporary
public art, art related events, and engages the community in projects that promote art and
culture.
The Art Basel Brunch is an annual event hosted by the City with officials from the City of Miami
Beach, elected officials from the City of Basel, officials from Art Basel Miami Beach and Messe
Schweiz.
The City secured the Sagamore Hotel to sponsor the full cost of the brunch.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, RETROACTIVELY ACCEPTING SPONSORSHIP, IN
THE AMOUNT OF $1,200, FOR THE ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH ANNUAL
OFFICIAL BRUNCH.
WHEREAS, in 2016, the City of Miami Beach hosted the Art Basel Miami Beach Annual
Official Brunch; and
WHEREAS, Art Basel Miam Beach brings thousands of residents and tourists together to
enjoy internationally recogized temporary contempoary public art, art related events and
engages the community in projects and that promote art and culture to our citizens and tourists;
and
WHEREAS, the City secured sponsorship by the Sagamore Hotel, to off-set the cost of
the brunch;
WHEREAS, the Administration recommends that the City Commission retroactively
approve and accept the aforestated sponsorship, totaling $1,200: and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby retroactively accept sponsorship, in the amount of $1,200, for the Art Basel
Miami Beach Annual Official Brunch.

ANALYSIS

The Art Basel Miami Beach Luncheon is an annual event hosted by the City with officials

CONCLUSION
Staff worked diligently to identify funding source to off-set the cost of this event.
Administration recommends the adoption of the attached Resolution authorizing the
acceptance of this sponsorship, to cover the cost of the Art Basel Miami Beach Annual
Official Brunch.
