A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
TO COMPLETE THE VENETIAN CAUSEWAY PROJECT ON-TIME
AND TO SUSPEND TOLLS DURING CONSTRUCTION.
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County commenced repair of the east bascule bridge on the
Venetian Causeway on November 14, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the construction of the east bascule bridge (between Belle Isle and Rivo
Alto Island) requires the partial closure of the Venetian Causeway to all through-traffic, including
vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians; and
WHEREAS, the partial closure of the Venetian Causeway between Belle Isle and Rivo
Alto Island adversely impacts the quality-of-life for residents of the islands and represents an
inconvenience for commuters traveling between the Cities of Miami Beach and Miami; and
WHEREAS, the project is anticipated to conclude on December 29, 2016.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission hereby urge Miami-Dade County to complete the Venetian Causeway project on-
time and to suspend tolls during construction.
