SUBJECT: Dog Park Improvements at Flamingo Park and Belle Isle Park
The purpose of this LTC is to notify the City Commission that the Parks and Recreation
Department will be temporarily closing one of two dog parks at both Flamingo Park and
Belle Isle Park to perform turf improvements. Each of these parks has two dog park
areas. During this period, the northern section at Flamingo Park and western area at
Belle Isle will be closed but the adjacent areas will remain open for park users. The
project shall consist of sod removal, surface grading and the installation of new sod.
After grading and installation, which will take approximately one week, the newly sodded
areas will remain closed for an additional estimated three to four weeks, in order to allow
proper rooting and establishment.
The projects are expected to commence on Monday, May 8, 2017, and should be
completed by Friday, June 9, 2017, weather permitting.
