LTC 240-2017 MB Resident Connect Portal Launchesfv\ EMI BEACH OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGER NO. LTC 4 240 -2017 LETTER TO COMMISSION TO: Mayor Philip Levine and Members s the City it mmission FROM: Jimmy L. Morales, City Manager DATE: May 9, 2017 SUBJECT: MB Resident Connect Portal Lau'. ches I am happy to share that the MB Resident Connect portal has officially Launched. MB Resident Connect is an email notification system that allows you to sign up to receive electronic alerts on city issues based on keywords of your choosing. The system has been custom designed by our IT department to best fit the needs of our residents and encourage residents to stay involved. This new communications tool increases transparency and allows our residents to stay up -to- date on the topics that matter most to them. The online system can be accessed by visiting MBResidentConnect.com and is specifically designed to let users sign up to receive electronic alerts based on keywords of their choosing. Once a user has signed up for alerts, they will receive notifications when city meeting agendas are published if one of the keywords they set up is part of the agenda. These keywords may be found within documents from a City Commission meeting or committee meetings, including Finance & Citywide Projects Committee, Land Use & Development Committee, Neighborhood /Community Affairs Committee, Sustainability & Resiliency Committee, the Planning Board, Design Review Board, Historic Preservation Board and Board of Adjustments. The system scans for keywords daily and notifies the user via email when a new document containing the keyword is found. New users will receive an initial alert containing results dating back 30 days. The city encourages residents to take advantage of this proactive tool to ensure that they are always informed on matters in their city. We will be heavily promoting the use of this new tool through social media, inclusion in bi- weekly e- newsletters, a public service announcement that will run on MBTV, Atlantic Broadband and the Miami Beach trolleys, and have also added it to the homepage banner of the city's website.
