SUBJECT: Adaptation Calculator
I am pleased to share the launch of the Miami Beach Adaptation Calculator.
The Adaptation Calculator is an innovative tool, based in Geographic Information
Systems (GIS). This tool is designed to foster community engagement about storm
water management and street elevation projects. It helps residents visualize the
relationship between their property and their street by providing if, and how many inches,
the road will be elevated to reduce flood risk, keeping in mind there will be a gradual
slope harmonizing elevation with private property. This is useful for residents to
understand right -of -way construction while considering their own personal property
needs.
I'd like to thank the Resilience and GIS team for this unique innovation and dedication to
bring this concept to reality for the benefit of Miami Beach residents and businesses.
This is an important piece to engage and educate all about our city's proactive planning
efforts. It will be featured at the June Open Houses, shared with the Commission via
LTC on May 15, 2017.
