Ordinance 1503 ORDINANCE NO. 1503
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2.38 AND 2.40 OF ARTICLE III
AND SECTION 2.49 OF ARTICLE IV OF CHAPTER 2 OF "THE CODE
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, 1950".
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That subparagraph (f) of Section 2.38 of Article III of
Chapter 2 of "The Code of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
1950" reading as follows:
" (f) The fiscal year of the plan shall begin with October let
and end with September 30th of each years -and an annual report
shall be prepared covering each fiscal year's operations, which
report shall be reviewed by auditors selected by the Board. "
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
" (f) The fiscal year of the plan shall begin with January 1st
and end with December 31st of each year, and an annual report
shall be prepared covering each fiscal year's operations, which
report shall be reviewed by auditors selected by the Board. "
SECTION 2. That Section 2.40 of Article III of Chapter 2 of "The Code
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, 1950" be and the same is
hereby amended by adding thereto, at the end thereof, an additional sub-
paragraph to read as follows:
"d. The Board, with the approval of the City Council, may make
such changes in the character and kind of hospitalization,
surgical service and medical service to be afforded the members as
the Board, from time to time, shall deem required to be made by
change in circumstances and cost and no member shall ever acquire a
vested interest in the provisions for hospitalization, surgical
service and medical service as may exist at any particular time. "
SECTION 3. That Section 2.49 of Article IV of Chapter 2 of "The Code
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, 1950" reading as follows:
"Sec. 2.49 BENEFITS: It is the intent of this plan to provide regular
employees, and officers, of the City with the advantage
of participation in a group life insurance plan, the coverage of
which shall be Two Thousand Dollars ($2, 000.00) per member: "
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 2.49 BENEFITS: It is the intent of this plan to provide
regular employees, and officers, of the City and those
of such employees and officers who shall have retired from, service
under any City pension system prior to January 1, 1964 with the
advantage of participation in a group life insurance plan, the
coverage of which shall be Two Thousand Dollars ($2, 000.00) per
member, and to provide those of said regular employees, and officers,
who are retired from service under any City pension system subsequent
to December 31, 1963, with the advantage of participation in said
group life insurance plan, the coverage of which shall be One Thousand
Dollars ($1, 000.00) per member. "

SECTION 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same hereby are repealed..
SECTION 5. That this ordinance shall go into effect immediately
upon its passage and posting as required. by law.

having been passed and adopted by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, has been posted by me in
three conspicuous places in the City of Miami Beach, one
of which was at the door of the City Hall in said City on
the 2nd day of January A,.D. 19 64 J. and that said
Ordinance remained posted for a period of at least thirty
days in accordance with the requirements of the City
Charter of the said City of Miami Beach.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand
and affixed the official seal of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, on this the 5th day of February 19 64.
