ORDINANCE NO. 1554
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10
OF "THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA."
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLOR IDA :
SECTION 1: That "The Code of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,"
be and it is hereby amended by adding a new Section
to Chapter 10, to be numbered and to read as follows:
"Section 11. Any candidate for elective office
who shall fail to file the sworn
statement as prescribed by Section 40 of the
Charter, shall be assessed a fine of $500.00.
In the event such candidate shall have been
successful, said sum shall be withheld from
the salary of the office so held. In the
event such candidate shall have been unsuc-
cessful, the payment of said fine shall be
enforced by the institution of suit in a
Court of competent jurisdiction to recover
the same."
SECTION 2: Al1 ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same
are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: The welfare of the City being in peril, and it
being necessary for the protection of its citizens
that this ordinance be adopted as an emergency
measure, the three readings required hereof shall
be had at one session.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 5th day of May, 1965.
