Sec. �9-1. Cardroom� - DEfined
A cardroom is hereby defined as an� room, store,
o�fice, building, vEssel or hou�Euoat used, operated
and�or maintained for the purp4se o� providing facil-
ities for card playing fox four car more persons, other
than the owners, operatars or l�sse�s t�z�reof, whether
or not admissi.an, cover or service charges be exacted,
provic�ing, however, that this Chapter s�all not apply
to any �ard room o�erated in a hatel, motel, apartment
house, condom.i.nium or coopezative apartment, where the
card room is maintained �or �khe free use of the guests
or occupants of said hotel, mot�l, apartment house.

Sec �� 9� 2. License R�uf red
Zt shall be unlawful to opezate, or main�ain a
cardroom withaut first having obtained a lic�r�se from
the City Clerk and Finance Director.
Sec. �9-3. License - Application
(a) An apgla.cant for any license required by
section 49--2 shall ma�e sworn applicata.an to the
city clerk and finance director on �orms provi�ed by
the clerk for that pur�aose on wha.ch sha].l be given
the name, occupat�.on anc� �Iace of businass, tog�ther
with the names of the s��ficers and stock�a�.ders, if
the spplicant is a ccr�oration, or of the members af
the firm, i� the applicant is a firm, or of t�;e in--
c�ividual, if the applieant i.� an inc�ividual, together
w�th such furtr�er inforr.iation as may be reguired, and
the applicant fcr such lic�nse s�ial.I give the names

�pproval -- Physica2 Requirements
Before any license shall �e issu�ed by �he City Clerk,
the appraval of th� Planning and Zoning Department shall
be noted on each application.
Be�ore su�h. appro�al shal�. b+e given by the Plann--
ing and Zoning Department, it shall be detertnined that
the app�.icant has compliEd with all building and zon--
ing ordinances of th� city and in addition thereta the
following�special requirements are hereb� imposed:
�a} A siqn shall be erected on �he n�ain entrance
door o� each ca��droom, visible on the outside of e�xch
cardroom, designating �suc� room as : a carciroam, and if
such cardroom be�i� vther than a�hotel, motel, apart-
me�zt house, condomi.nium oz cooperative ap�rtment,
whether such cardroom �is open to the pu3�lic ar private,
and the hours of operatior�.
�b} v:here t�e premises ar� in an office building,
and the cardroom entrance,is�no� completei3r visible
from t�e main entxanc�, then a sign shal2 be prominently
displ�yed in the lo�by or v�esti�u3e giving the nam�
ana location of any anc3 all cardrooms in said structure
or that the name, location and room number of each
cardroom be reflected on t�e building dir�ctory

Chapt�ro
Sec. 49-1G. Revocation.
The provisions of Arti�'le II, Chapt�r 2Q shall
apply to the reva�ati�n of a lic�r�se issue3 under the
provisions of this Chapter,
Sec. �9-11. �enalties.
Any licensee, em3aloyee, agent, stockholdEr or
director of a carpara�ian involved in th� operation
of a cardroom as def ine� by this Chapter who violates
any af the provisions of this Chapter �hali b� sub-
ject ta a fine not exceeding $1,i3Q0.00 and/or ninety
(90} days in jail.
Sec. 49�12. Loitering by known gamblers.
It shall be unlawful for any person who is a
known gambler t� u�ilize t��e facilities of an� card-
room as def ined by �his Chap�er, and it sh��.l be un-
lawful for known gamblers to �.oitEr in a cardroom.
For purposes of this sectic�n, a known gambler �.s de-
f ined as any person who Y��as been convicted of a�amb--
ling offense, who possesses a Federal Gambling Tax
Stamp, or whose principal saurce af income is obt�.ined
through gambling. .
SECTI�N 2: That all ordinanc�:s or parts of ordinances in con-
flict her�wi�h be and the same are hereby repe�led.
