ORDINANCE NO. 1756
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 41 OF
"THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA" .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA :
SECTION 1 That Chapter 41, Article II, Division l, of "The Code of
the City of Miami Beach, Florida" be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
"ARTICLE II. TAX ON INSURANCE BUSINESS.
D ivision 1. For Benefit of Firemen.
"Sec. 41-28. Amount of tax.
"There is hereby assessed and imposed on every
insurance company, corporation or other insurer now
engaged in or carrying on, or who shall hereafter engage
in or carry on the 3�usiness of insuring property against
loss or damage by fire or tornado, an excise or license
tax amounting to two per cent (2/) of the gross amount
of receipts of premiums from policy holders on all premiums
collected on fire and tornado insurance policies covering
property within the City.
"Sec. 41-29. Disposition of tax receipts; administration
of receipts.
"All money derived from the taxes imposed by this
division is hereby appropriated to the firemen's relief
and pension fund of the City, which shall be administered
in accordance with the provisions of Sections 175.011 to
175.361, Florida Statutes, 1967.
"Sec. 41-30. Tax is in addition to other taxes.
"The license tax assessed and imposed by this
division�shall be in addition to all other license taxes
now levied by the City.
"Sec. 41-31. Collection of tax.
"The excise or license tax provided for in this
division shall be payable and collected in the manner
provided for by Sections 175.011 to 175.361, Florida Statutes 1967."
SECTION 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective July 1, 1969.
