ORDINANCE NO. 1774
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 41 OF THE
CODE 4F THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
CREATING A TOURIST DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEA�CH,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: T�hat that portion of Section 41.67 of the Code
of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, reading as follaws:
"The Authority may employ a Director and an
Assistant Director, neither of whom shall be
members of the Authority, and each of whom
shall serve at the pleasure of the Authority,
provided, however, that nothing herein contained
shall be deemed to prohibit the Authority froia
entering into contracts of the employment of
a Director or an Assistant Director for a
period not exceeding two years."
be, and the same is hereby amended to read:

SECTION 2:
The Authority shall employ a Director whose
appointment shall be subject to the approval
and conf irmation of the City Council and may
employ an Assistant Director, neither of whom'
shall be members of the Authority, and each
of whom shall serve at the pleasure of the
Authority, provided, however, that nothing
herein contained shall be deemed to prohibit
the Authority from entering into a contract
of employment for a�Director or an Assistant
Director for a period not to exceed two years.
The Authority shall appoint a Director not
later than 60 days from the effective date of
this ordinance. In the event that the Authority
fails or refuses to appoint a Director on or
before the said date, the City Council is empawered
and authorized to make such appointment. Any
subsequent vacancy in said position shall be
filled within 60 days by the Authority or failinq
such appointment, the same shall thereafter be
filled by the City Council.

SECTION 3:'
This ordinance shall go into effect upon its
approval by the affirmative vote of a majority of the
qualified electors of the City of Miami Beach at a
referendum election held in accordance with the provisions
of Section 26 of the Charter of the City of Miami Beach.
