SUBJECT: CIP Monthly Construction Proj
Below please find the monthly update for active City of Miami Beach construction projects under
the purview of the Office of Capital Improvement Projects.
Accessible Kayak Launch Dock -Dickens & 73 Street
Scope: Construction of kayak launch with accessible gangway and floating platform.
Status: Project is complete. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on May 251
h, 2017.
Allison Park Renovation
Scope: Create an ADA park with an accessible route from the play area and beach area
to the existing restrooms building.
Status: Construction began December 2016. Project is 85% complete as per the current
contract pending change order for additional scope and time. Project is scheduled for
completion October 2017.
Beach Lifeguard Towers Replacement
Scope: Construction of 35 lifeguard towers.
Status: Construction began March 2015. Fifteen towers have been completed and placed
at their permanent location. Seven more towers are in construction and are scheduled for
completion by September 2017.
Biscayne Point Island Entry
Scope: Beautification project of the neighborhood entryway to Biscayne Point Island.
Status: Concrete curbs and sidewalks have been completed. Landscaping and
guardhouse construction will commence June 2017. Project is 43% complete overall and
scheduled for completion summer 2017.
Central Bayshore South Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements bounded by 34th St. to the north, Pine Tree Dr. to
the east, 28 St. to the south and Prairie Ave to the west and Meridian Ave from 28 St. to
Dade Blvd.
Status: Water main installation is ongoing and 80% complete. Drainage design is
currently on hold at a 60%, waiting for the City's re-evaluation of the impact of the
proposed road elevations on the neighborhood homes.
Espanola Way Conversion
Scope: Conversion of Espanola Way into a pedestrian mall.
Status: Construction began August 2016. Project is 98% complete and was substantially
completed June 2, 2017. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held on June 6, 2017.
Flamingo Park Restroom Facility
Scope: Demolition of existing restroom building and construction of a new restroom/office
building.
Status: Construction began June 2016. Project is 95% complete and scheduled for
substantial completion July 2017.
Fleet Management Seawall
Scope: Complete design and total replacement of approximately 200 feet of seawall to
protect upland structures
Status: Construction to commence in June 2017.
Middle Beach Recreational Corridor Ph 2 -Section 1
Scope: Construction of an on-grade pedestrian walkway encompassing eighteen ( 18)
City blocks or approximately 9,305 feet from 46 St to 53 St.
Status: Notice to proceed issued June 2017. Construction to commence July 2017.
Muss Park Pavilion
Scope: Demolition of the existing pavilion and the construction of a new pavilion. The new
pavilion will be LEED Silver certified.
Status: Construction began February 2017. Project is 20% complete and scheduled for
completion August 2017.
Muss Park Seawall
Scope: Design and total replacement of 300 linear feet of seawall to minimize deposition
of sediments into Biscayne Waterway which flows into Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserve.
Status: Notice to proceed issued June 2017. Construction to commence July 2017.
Palm & Hibiscus Island Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements on Palm and Hibiscus Islands.
Status: Construction began January 2016. Project is 46% complete and scheduled for
completion November 2017.
South Pointe Drive Medians Uplighting
Scope: Installation of uplighting at the South Pointe Drive medians.

Status: Construction began March 2017. Project is 95% complete scheduled for
substantial completion June 2017.
South Pointe Park Remediation -Water Feature
Scope: Construction of 4 new water features, landscaping, and plaza.
Status: Construction began January 2016. Project is 85% complete and scheduled for
completion July 2017.
Stormwater Pump Station at 19th Street
Scope: Installation of Stormwater Pump Station at 19th Street East of Meridian Avenue.
Status: Locations of the pump station site was revised. Design for new location was
authorized to commence on June 5, 2017.
Sunset Islands
3 & 4 Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Sunset Islands 3 & 4-Neighborhood improvement.
Status: Construction began June 2015. Project is 85% complete and scheduled for
completion summer 2017.
Venetian Islands Neighborhood Improvements
Scope: Neighborhood improvements on San Marino, Dilido and Rivo Alto Islands.
Status: Construction began May 2013. Project is 70% complete and scheduled for
completion September 2017.
West Avenue Phase II Improvements North of 14 Street
Scope: Neighborhood Right of Way improvements north of 141h Street to Lincoln Lane.
Status: Contract was awarded March 22, 2017. Currently working on the execution of the
contract.
West Avenue Phase II Improvements South of 14 Street
Scope: Neighborhood Right of Way improvements south of 14th Street to 6th Street.
Status: Contract was awarded March 22, 2017. Currently working on the execution of the
contract.
