Ordinance 259ORDINANCE NO. 259 AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE WORKING OF CONVICTS UPON THE PUBLIC WORKS AND STREETS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLOR- IDA, AND TO PROVIDE FOR CREDIT ON FINES IMPO SED FOR LABOR PERFORMED. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That any person convicted of violating any ordi- nance of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, upon whom a fine shall be imposed, who may not be able to pay such fine and costs, may be made to work out upon the public works and streets of said City such fine and costs, under the direc- tion of the Chief of Police at the rate of Two Dollars and Fifty Cents ($ 2.50) per day of nine (9) hours; and all persons convicted of violating any ordinance of said City, condemned to imprisonment, may be compelled to perforin such labor during any such term of imprisonment. SECTION 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in con- flict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of October, A. D., 1928.
