12992 RESOLUTION NO. 12992
WHEREAS the Honorable Mayor Koichiro Kaneko and
the several Commissioners of the City of Fujisawa, Japan,
the "Sister City" of the City of Miami Beach, have in a
characteristic, deep spirit of gracious generosity presented
to the City of Miami Beach an official City flag of the said
City of Fujisawa, and
WHEREAS the Mayor, the Vice Mayor, and the several
members of the City Council of the City of Miami Beach are
for themselves, individually, and for and on behalf of each
and every citizen and resident of the City of Miami Beach
profoundly appreciative of this gracious symbol of the ties
of friendship uniting the City of Fujisawa and the City of
Miami Beach, as "Sister Cities", and all are equally pro-
foundly appreciative of the cordial sentiments of warm friend-
ship so manifested and which constitute the wellspring of such
symbol of friendship,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR,
THE VICE MAYOR, AND THE SEVERAL COUNCILMEN OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, for themselves and for and on behalf of each
and every citizen and resident of the City of Miami Beach
to hereby accept said official City flag of the City of
Fujisawa as a symbol of the warm bonds of friendship existing
between the said "Sister Cities", and do hereby formally assure
the Honorable Mayor Koichiro Kaneko and the Commissioners of
said City of Fujisawa, and their constituency, that the said
official City flag of the City of Fujisawa will be carefully
preserved by the people of the City of Miami Beach as a memorial
of the ties of friendship which unite the two cities .
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1st day of April , 1970.
