RESOLUTION NO. 13060
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the lowest and best competitive
bid of Avant Construction Co . , Inc . , to construct the
South Shore Community Center for the sum of $608,000 .00
be, and the same is hereby accepted, and that upon
approval of the proposed contract between said Avant
Construction Co . Inc . and the City of Miami Beach by the
City Attorney as to form, the Mayor and the City Clerk
be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute
and deliver the same for and on behalf of the City , and
the appropriate financial officers of the City be , and
they are hereby authorized to make the payments thereunder
when and as the same shall become due , and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Attorney be,
and he is hereby authorized and directed to institute
appropriate legal proceedings expeditiously for the
validation of the $250 ,000 . 00 Bond Issue approved by
the electorate at the election held in the City on April 23,
1970 for the completion of said South Shore Community Center.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager is
hereby authorized and directed to add $250 ,000 . 00 to the
capital improvement fund in the 1970-1971 City Budget for
funding the construction of the South Shore Community Center
and to provide all funds for the complete funding for said
purpose with the understanding that the General Fund of the
City will thereafter be reimbursed from the proceeds of the
sale of the said $250 ,000 . 00 Bond Issue if and when
validated by the Courts , and thereafter sold.
Mayor Jay Dermer moved the adoption of this Resolution.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of July, 1970 .
