13166 RESOLUTION NO. 13166
WHEREAS, Mr. Chris Dundee is a fight promoter of
world renown, holder of the World Boxing Association Promoter
of the Year Award, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dundee marks the twentieth year in
his brilliant career of pugilistic promotions at this time,
and
WHEREAS, the said promotions include sixty-five
major title fights televised from Miami Beach, numerous
basketball games, including performances by the Harlem
Globetrotters, and many professional tennis matches, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dundee has brought his dynamism and
expertise to the Miami Beach Sports Promotion Committee as
a long time member of said committee, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dundee has, through his vigorous and
sparkling sports promotions, created a major attraction for
residents and visitors in the City of Miami Beach, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dundee ' s aforementioned promotional
activities have generated enormous amounts of national and
international publicity, which publicity has contributed
greatly in making the City of Miami Beach, Florida, known as
the Resort Capital of the World, all of which has served to
promote the economy, and thus the welfare of the City of
Miami Beach and its environs ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City
Council wishes to honor Mr. Chris Dundee on this occasion
of his Twentieth Anniversary as a sports promoter. The City
Council extends hearty congratulations to Mr. Dundee for a
brilliant and honorable career. Mr. Dundee has contributed
mightily to the elevation of the sport of boxing and all other
sports events to which he has lent his considerable talents .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
be sent to Mr. Chris Dundee.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 2nd day of December , 1970.
