13249 RESOLUTION NO. 13249
WHEREAS , the Senior Center of Dade County, Inc. , a
non-profit organization, organized and existing as an adjunct
of the Housing and Urban Development Department of the United
States is administrating a program, commonly known as the
"Hot Lunch-Program" for Senior Citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, is keenly interested and desirous of assisting in the
promotion of the humanitarian and socially ameliorative aims,
goals and objectives of said program; and
WHEREAS, said program, although being presently
subsidized by Metropolitan Dade County, the United Fund, the
Catholic Diocese, and the Federal Government; nevertheless,
said program continues to be in need of every possible assist-
ance and encouragement; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, finds and determines that it is in the best interests
of the citizens and residents of the City of Miami Beach, that
such aid, assistance, and co-operation be afforded to the said
program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that an appropriate kitchen,
cooking, and serving facilities be installed forthwith in the
South Shore Community Center, now under construction at Sixth
Street and Meridian Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida; and that said
facilities be utilized to the fullest extent possible for the
aid and advancement of the cause of said a Hot Lunch-Program, "
and that the City Administration be, and it is hereby, directed
to extend every co-operative effort to the parties responsible
for the administration of said program; and that the appropriate
officials of the Senior Center of Dade County, Inc. be advised
of the efforts made by the City of Miami Beach in this regard.
The adoption of the above and foregoing Resolution was
moved by Vice-Mayor Leonard O. Weinstein.
