13252 RESOLUTION NO. 13252
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, has been advised and informed that Eastern
Airlines has filed with the Civil Aeronautics Board, for
approval, a package of new promotional fares between Northern
points and Miami International Airport; said proposed package
of promotional fares, consisting of six specific tariffs,
designed to greatly reduce the cost of Family Travel between
Northern points and said Miami International Airport; and
said proposed tariffs, including, among other things, rates
of $10.00 to $15.00 for children when accompanied by their
parents; and
WHEREAS, said proposed promotional fares and
tariffs would be in effect for the period commencing April
19th through December 15th, 1971, and would greatly encourage
tourist vacation travel to Miami Beach and South Florida at
a time most desirable and favorable for the benefit of the
local economy; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, is heartily and enthusiastically in accord
with the imaginative and forward thinking of Eastern Airlines
in this regard, and warmly endorses said plan by Eastern
Airlines, and does hereby urge upon all other Airlines operat-
ing between Northern points and Miami International Airport,
to follow the example of Eastern Airlines, by formulating
like and similar promotional fares and tariffs on their re-
spective routes;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED, by the City
Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that it hereby
strongly recommends to, and vigorously urges upon, said Civil
Aeronautics Board, the early and prompt approval of said
proposed promotional tariffs, not only as submitted by
Eastern Airlines, but also as to all other Airlines similarly
situate, for the vitally needed enhancement and growth of the
tourist economy of this area; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, that copies of this Resolution be trans-
mitted, not only to Eastern Airlines, but to all other Public
Carrier Airlines, similarly situate, and to all of the ap-
propriate officials of the Civil Aeronautics Board.
