13318 RESOLUTION NO. 13318 WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach and Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. , entered into a lease of Convention Hall South for the period of July 3, 1970 through July 5, 1970, at an agreed rental of $5, 000. 00, and WHEREAS, disputes have arisen between Alcoholics World Services, Inc. , and participating convention hotels as to the parties responsible for the payment of said rental and the sources thereof, and WHEREAS, after prolonged negotiations between the City and Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. , an offer of settlement has been made whereby Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. will pay $3, 000.00 of the $3, 999.41 of the balance claimed to be due by the City, and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City Attorney that said compromise offer be accepted by reason of the complexity and disputes involving the agreement between Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. and the participating convention hotels, and to avoid extensive and protracted litigation that the best interest of the City require the acceptance of said settlement offer, and WHEREAS, Warren Ericksen, Chief of the City' s Convention Bureau, concurs with said recommendation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that said recommendations as to the acceptance of said offer be and the same are hereby approved, and the Mayor and City Clerk- Finance Director be and they are hereby authorized to execute appropriate releases in full upon the receipt of the said $3, 000. 00, and to deliver said releases to said Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. thereafter.
