A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ADOPTING
A BUDGET FOR THE SAID CITY FOR THE FISCAL
YEAR 1971-1972 AND FIXING THE MILLAGE ON
REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY IN SAID CITY
AND LEVYING A TAX THEREON.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA:
WHEREAS , the Tax Assessor for Metropolitan Dade County
has notified this body that the amount of the sum total of the
taxable non-exempt property in the City of Miami Beach, Dade
County, Florida, for the tax year 1971 is :
Real Estate $ 996 ,045,446
Personal Property 124 ,156 ,710
Railroad & Telegraph 170 ,914
TOTAL $1,120 , 373, 070
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach has ascertained the amount of money needed
for each Department to carry on the government of the City of
Miami Beach and to defray its expenses and liabilities , and makes
the estimate to be raised by taxes on all taxable property in
the said City of Miami Beach for the year A.D. 1971 , as the same
is set forth in the "Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 1971-1972 For
the City of Miami Beach, Florida" , a true and correct copy of
which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, and
the monies therein be and the same are accordingly hereby appropriated.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that there be, and the same is hereby, levied a
tax for the year A.D. 1971 on all taxable and non-exempt real and
personal property located within the corporate limits of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, as follows :
(a) For the purpose of carrying on the government
and the administration of the City and to provide
funds for the support and maintenance of several
City departments and, also, for appropriate
reserves and contingencies, including a reserve
for the tax discounts and abatements of uncollected
taxes , Ten (10) mills on the dollar of the taxable
just valuation of all taxable non-exempt property in the
City of Miami Beach.
(b) For the purpose of paying principal and interest due on
all outstanding bonds and notes of the said City that
were issued since the passage of the Homestead Exemption
Act, and for a reserve for tax discounts and abatements
for uncollected taxes , Two and Twenty-Nine Hundredths
(2 .29) mills on the dollar of the taxable non-exempt just
valuation of all said property in said City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said total millage of Twelve and
Twenty-Nine Hundredths (12. 29) mills was fixed and determined in the
manner provided by Sections 193. 011 and 200 .081 , Florida Statutes , and
is in compliance therewith and that the valuations given to the City
of Miami Beach by the Tax Assessor for Metropolitan Dade County were
utilized without exception by the City.

BE IT FURTHER DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the said proposed Budget
be and the same is hereby adopted as the Official Budget of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, for the fiscal year 1971-1972 and
that in adopting said Budget it is the intent and purpose of the
City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that said
Budget, and this Resolution adopting the same, shall be, and is,
subject to such application as the President' s Executive Order
No. 11615, providing for stabilization of prices , rents, wages
and salaries, may have upon said Budget, and this Resolution
adopting the same; and that it is the further intent and purpose
of the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that this
Resolution and the Budget adopted hereby shall also be subject to
and in conformity with the Economic Stabilization Act of 1970 (P.L.
91-379, 84 Stat. 799) , as amended.
BE IT FURTHER DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a Certified Copy of this
Resolution be delivered to the County Manager of Metropolitan
Dade County, and that Certified Copies hereof be delivered to the
following officers of the City: City Manager and City Auditor.
