WHEREAS, the Honorable D. LEE POWELL has served the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, in the capacities both as Mayor
and City Councilman for a period of 29 years and 4 months con-
secutively and, therefore, is within the purview of the pro-
visions of Section 165 .25, Florida Statutes 1969, entitling
him to the pension benefits therein provided, and
WHEREAS, the said Honorable D. LEE POWELL has duly
advised the City Council of his voluntary resignation or re-
tirement from his office as Councilman, and
WHEREAS, the City Attorney has duly advised the City
Council that said Honorable D. LEE POWELL is lawfully entitled
to the benefits provided by Section 165.25, Florida Statutes
1969, and that the City of Miami Beach is mandatorily required
to comply with the provisions thereof,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, thatth fcimtbelEe171 ,

of said Section 165.25, Florida Statutes 1969, be and the same is
hereby accepted, and that there is hereby appropriated sufficient
funds in the current Annual Budget, and succeeding Annual Budgets,
to meet the requirements of said Section 165 .25, and that the
proper financial officers of the City be and they are hereby au-
thorized and directed to pay the annual amount provided therein,
in equal monthly installments, effective November 17, 1971 .
