AN ORDINAI�ICE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIA�dI BEACH, FLORIDA, PRO_
VIDIIVG FOR A GENERAL ELECTI01� IN SAID
CITY TO BE HELaD ON THE FIRST TUE�DAY

OF SAID CITY TO BE �LECTED AT SAID
L+�LECTION, PROVIDING FOR REGISTRATION
THEREFOR, AI�D PROVIDING THE TI�iE, PLACE
AND 11�ANNER OF HOLDING SUCH ELECTIO�I�,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COtINCIL OF THE CITY OF �I�I BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That a, general el ection for th e f illing of all
City offices hereinafter named shall be held ir� the
City o� Miami Beach, Florida, on the f irBt �uesday
in June, A. D. , 1937, and at the sar�e time every two years thereaf ter,
at which time all officers of said City made elective under the City
Charter shall be elected as follows:
Five persons ae members of the City Council
All such persons shall hold office for the term of t�ro yeara
and/or until their successora are regularly elected �►nd qualified ex--
cept that the t�ro councilmen �o shall receive the higheSt number of
votes at any election herein provided for shall hold office for the
term of four years and/or until their sueceesors are regularly elected
and qualified.
Section 2: That such biennlal election shall be kno�rn as the
general election of the City of Miami Beach, Florida.
�ection 3: That any person who sh�,ll possess the qualifica'�iona
requisite to a qualified voter�Yat general State
elec'�ions and shall have resided in the City of
�Iiami Beach six months next preceding the general election herein
provided for and shall have registered in the regi�tration books of
said City ag required by law and shall have x�aid his or her poll taxea
for the t�o years next preceding such election �,s is provided by the
la�vs of the State of Florida, preceding any general election providing
the same were legally asseasable againat him or her, shall be a qua.li-
fied elector of said City. All electiona held in said City shall be
held and conducted substan�ially in aecord �ith ti�e provisions of the
general election laws of the 5�ate of Florida, proeided, ho�ever, that
the City Council of said City shall perfarm all €�.cts in relation to
such general elections which by the state law is mad.e the duty of the
Board of County Commiaaioners, and provided further that no persone
under g•uua.rdiar�, idiotic or ins�.ne, eonvicted of a felony, or of bribery,
perjury or larceny, or of any infamous crime, or being interested in
any bet or wager, the result of which shall depend on any election,
or of fighting a duel or of sending or kno�ving the carrying or accept-
ing of a ch�.11enge to fight a duel, or being a second to either party
to a duel and not restared to civil rights, shall be qualifi ed to vote
at any such general election.
Section �-: That for the purpose o� holding and conducting such
general elections, the City of l�iami Beaeh, Florida,
is hereb� divided into voting precincts or election
districts with polling �laces therein as followe;
PRECINCT NO . 6; That part of the Ci t y of Mia�ni Bea.ch lo cat ed north
of Fif ty-First Street, the polling place o� �nhich
shall be the ARCHi�AY OCEAN �TILLA� GARAGE, at 6�30
Collins Avenue.
PRECINCT N0. 30: That part of the Cit� of Miami Beach lying south of
Fifty-first �treet, and north of Lincoln Road and
Venetian Cause�vay, the polling place of which shall
be at the LIBERTY AVENtJE FIRE �TATION, located at
. ` 2327 Libert� Avenue.

PRECINCT N0. 31; �'hat part of the City o� �Iiami 8each bounded on
the South by Fifth Street and the County Caueewa�,
on the EaBt by Meridian Avenu�, on the North by
Lincoln Road and the Venetian Causeway, and on
the West by the City li�its of said City, the
polling plac� of which shall be the $and 5tand in
Fla�ingo Park.
PRECINCT N0. 32; That part of the City oP Miami Beach bounded on
the south b3r Fifth 5treet, on the i�est by Meridian
Avenue, on the north by Lin�oln Road and oM the
Ea�t by the Atlantic Ocean, the polling place of
which Bh.all be the CITY HALL of said City.
PRECINCT N4. 33; That part oP the City of �iami Beach south of
Fif th 5treet and the County Caus��►aq, the polling
plac� of which shall be ifl the Mt1NICIPAL COUR.�
ROO�I at th� eorner of First � Street and �teridian
Avenue.
And th� City Council 8ha11 a�point and deei�nate, in aceord �ith pro--
vieione of the City Charter, such Inspectors and Clerks of Election
for each euch election district or precinct as by Re�olution of the
City Council are determined neceasary, and thereupon the Mayor or
Aetir�g Mayor shall issue hi8 proclamation giving notice of euch general
�leetion to be held in the City of l�iami Beach, which proclamation
shall contain a list of the officera to be voted for and the otl�er
queatione to be vot�d u�on; the places oP voting; the time for opening
and cloeing the polls and the names of the Inepectors and Clerks of
el�ction appointed a� herein provided, and. such notiee or proclamation
shall b� publiBhed once a week for a period of four eonBeeutive �eeke
next prec�eding auch �lection in a nearspaper publiehed in the Cit� of
�diami Beach, F'lorida, and shall be posted for a eriod of th
p irty days
ir� three aonepicuous places in the City of Miami Beach, Flor�ida, and
the official ballot to be used at 8�ch general election shall be pre-�
pa�ed by the City Council in the manner provid.ed by the State la�,
Seetion 5; That the said In�pector� and Clerks, or the Inepec--
tora and Clerks acting in their behalf, shall im-.
r�ediatelp upon th.e alosing of the polls proceed to .
count the votes cast at eaid eleetion in their reBpective preeinetB
for each officer and the vot�a for and against eaeh queStion therein
8ub�itted, and ma.ke out duplicate listg of the nur�ber of votee cast
for each candidate at .such eleetion ar�d the number of votes caet for
and agains� each question voted upon, and eertify the correctnegs of
such duplicate lists, one of which ehall be handed by one of said In-
epector� to the Cit� Clerk of said City, and the other shall be �laced
ir� the ballot box, v�hich s��.11 be Becurely locked.
Section 6: That the City Council shall meet on the firet V�ed-
�hB�ay �fter such general election, or ae 800n
e�af er as praeticabl�, for the purpose of can--
�*aegin� the returns of such election and ascertaining the reeult there-
of, and installing ne� offlicere who� they �-hall declare elected, at
�rhich time the nea� oFfiaers sa installed shall enter u�aon the discharge
of their dutie8 as soon ae they qualif�, ar�d at the same time, or aB
soon therea.fter as practicable, the nea Cit,y, Council shall proceed to
act upon a.nd confirm or rej eet, by a major�ity vote of the membere of the
City Couneil present and actually vo ting, the different appointment6
to office made by t�e Cit� Manager, as provided by the Charter.

said City to hold a meeting on the first Wedneaday
after the regietration bookg are elosed of eaeh
general election �ear to examine and rev�.se the liat of registered
votere of eaid City and to erase therefro� the namea of eueh ae may
have died or removed from the City, or �vho are otherwise dis�ualified
to vote. Such examination and revigion shall be completed ae soon aa
praeticable and immediatelg thereafter th� City Coun�il ahall cauae to
be posted one time at the City Hall, a li�t of alI registered voters
as they appear a�ter sucY� revisions, tvgether with 8 list of the ne.mes
strieken from the regietration bookB, all alphabetieally arranged. Any

re�istration books may have the same restored at any Bubsequent
meeting of the City Council upon eatief aetor� proof that the sar�e

section �: The �ity Clerk shall open and keep open the
Registration Boogs of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, at all times betv�een ten oEclock A. M.,
and four o�clock P. �,, Sundaye, holida�e �nd half holidaye exce�ted,
except that said. Re�istration Boo�s ehall be cloged on the second
Saturday of the manth preceding the day in each �►e�r in which said
�leetion ahall be held, for the pur�ose of regieterin� those who
are quelified to register, but r�othing herein provided shall prohit�it
him regiatering euch persona at �,ny other hour during the days r�hen
said booke may be kept oper� in accord herewith, and_ he ie hereby
emFoarered a.nd req,uired to administer to all pereons who may desire
to re�ieter on oath that they are qualified to regieter and vote
uMder the ConBtitution and LawB of the State of Florida and the
Charter of the Cit� of �Iiami Beach, Florida, and no persons shall
be allorved to regiater without such oath. Said City Clerk shall aleo
receiae and receipt for poll taxes �or the pur�aose of elector s quali-
fyin� for said electionB at all times betxeen ten o�clock A, M,,
and four o� clack P. �i, , sundays, holid.ays and half holida,ye excepted.
No person ahall be permitted to vote at said election who shall have
iailed to pay at least on or before the fourth Saturda�r preceding the
date o�' said El�eti an, his or her poll taxee f ar the t�ro yearg next
precedin� th e year in which suah eleetion ehall be held, providing
the sa�ne were legall� asBeesable againgt him o�r her under the Laws of -
the `�t�.te of Flnrida,.
Section 9: That Ordinanoee Noe. 257, 262, 317 and 365 of tYt
City� Council of the City af Miami Beach, Florid.a,,
and all other Ordinancee and part8 of OrdiMencee
in conilict here�ith are hereby repealed.
