A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION
OF RELEASE OF LEASE AGREEMENT WITH
THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT FOR THE
UNITED STATES NAVAL RESERVE CENTER.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, by its Resolution No. 9736 adopted April 2, 1958,
approved the lease of that certain municipal property known
as
Wharf Area "A" in Block 111,
OCEAN BEACH ADDITION NO. 3,
for use as a United States Naval Reserve Center and used
primarily for the dockage of the Reserve Training Ship USS THRUSH,
and
WHEREAS, said. Lease, by Resolution No. 11948 of the City
Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, adopted on February 21,
1966, extended said Lease up to and including June 30, 1978, with
the right of either party to terminate said Lease upon thirty days '
notice, and
WHEREAS, the United States Government has advised the
City of Miami Beach that it desires to exercise said option to
terminate, effective June 30, 1973, and
WHEREAS, an appropriate release agreement has been pre-
pared setting forth the exercise of such right of termination by
the United States Government, which release agreement has been
approved as to form by the City Attorney, and
WHEREAS, City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
has been advised by its City Attorney that the execution of said
release is proper and is in order,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the City
Clerk-Finance Director be and they are hereby authorized and
directed to execute for and in the name of the City, said Release
of Agreement.
