RESOLUTION NO. 73-14046
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, has been duly advised that the City of Miami Beach can now
make proud claim that it possesses a number of outstanding champions
in the realm of tennis competition, and that a number of these
junior champions have brought additional fame and pride to the City
of Miami Beach, particularly in the Florida State Junior Singles
Closed Championship Tournament held in the City of St. Petersburg,
Florida, from July 16 - 19, 1973, and that in said tournament, the
following persons emerged as winners in competition of the highest
spirit and caliber, namely:
DONNA GANZ Winner in the 18 year old
Girls competition
LYNN EPSTEIN Winner in the 16 year old
Girls competition
LAURA STARR Winner in the 12 year old
Girls competition
TERI STARR 2nd winner in the 14 year old
Girls competition
MARC ABRAMS 2nd winner in the 16 year old
Boys competition
JOYCE PORTMAN Winner in the 16 year old
Girls Consolation competition
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it takes :official
cognizance of the honors thus achieved by the above designated
champions and that the said City Council does hereby pay to each
and every one of said champion competitors the highest honor and
tribute for their stellar performance and that the said City
Council , for itself and for all the residents and citizens of the
City of Miami Beach, do hereby take the greatest pride in said
achievements and extend to each of them their warmest and sincerest
desires that they continue with equal success in their champion
endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that Jack Woody, Irvin (Sonny) Neham, Jay
Kolver, and Ralph Belkin of the City's Park and Recreation Depart-
ment are also especially commended for the exemplary devotion and
time which they expended and exerted in aiding and assisting the
said champions in achieving their respective laurels.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that this resolution be spread upon the
official minutes of the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, and that true and correct copies of this resolution be
presented by the City Clerk to each of the foregoing designated
champions and to each of the said members of the Parks and Recreation
Department as an official acknowledgement on the part of the City of
Miami Beach of the accomplishments achieved by each of the said
individuals hereinabove designated.
