A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
EXPENDITURE OF $10,000 FOR FUNDING OF A JOINT
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH-DADE COUNTY
DEMONSTRATION OF DESIGN IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
ON OCEAN DRIVE.
WHEREAS, a proposal for carrying out a demonstration of design
improvements on Ocean Drive as part of Art Deco Weekend, January 13-15, 1983
has been submitted by the Miami Beach Design Preservation League; and
WHEREAS, the Dade County Office of Community and Economic
Development will expend $30,000 in support of the proposal; and
WHEREAS, the demonstration project will result in permanent capital
improvements along certain portions of Ocean Drive and in Lummus Park; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to support special
events such as Art Deco Weekend and to support projects which improve the
appearance of Ocean Drive and Lummus Park;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City
Administration is authorized to expend $10,000 from Community Development
Block Grant Funds in order to assist in the implementation of a demonstration of
design improvements project on Ocean Drive contingent upon the commitment of
$30,000 from Dade County for the project and final design plan approval of the
improvements by the City of Miami Beach.
