82-17170 RESOLUTION NO. 82-17170 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO PROPOSED ONE CENT ($ . 01) INCREASE IN SALES TAX BEING PLACED ON THE NOVEMBER 2 , 1982 , BALLOT. BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and members of the Miami Beach City Commission wish to express deep concern and unanimous opposition to the proposal that the Dade County Commission place on the November 2 , 1982 Ballot , a referendum item designed to add a sixth cent to the already existing and burdensome five cent ($ . 05) general sales tax: WHEREAS, this City Commission has continuously opposed the sales tax proposal as an attempt to misuse public funds for private profit ventures; and WHEREAS, this City Commission is of the opinion that a strong stand must be taken against the sales tax proposal; and WHEREAS, the general public needs to be informed of our unanimous disapproval of this proposal NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that it is our considered opinion that the sales tax proposal as now set forth is not ready for placement on the ballot; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Miami Beach Publicity Director vigorously inform the people of our City and of Dade County of our strong and unanimous opposition to this proposal.
