A RESOLUTION WAIVING THE $150 . 00 RENTAL FEE FOR
PIER PARK BANDSHELL FOR THE SOUTH FLORIDA COUNCIL
OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA CLOSING CEREMONY OF
THE ANNUAL BAREFOOT MAILMAN HIKE TO BE HELD ON
FEBRUARY 27 , 1983 .
WHEREAS , the Boy Scouts of America are a non profit
organization dedicated to providing positive activities for
the youth of America; and
WHEREAS , the Barefoot Mailman Hike has become a
tradition in the South Florida area, and the City of Miami
Beach' s participation has been an integral part of that
tradition;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, that the Pier Park Bandshell rental
fee of $150 . 00 be waived for the reasons more particularly
outlined in the accompanying Commission Memorandum.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of December

SUBJECT: BOY SCOUTS UT LIZATION OF PIER PARK BANDSHELL
The South Florida Council of the Boy Scouts of America
have requested the use of the Pier Park Bandshell for
the closing ceremony of their annual Barefoot Mailman
Hike. The time and date for this activity would be
11 : 00 A.M. to 2 :00 P.M. on Sunday, February 27 , 1983.
This request represents a long standing relationship
the City has had with the Boy Scouts in this specific
activity. As in the past, they would be more than happy
to provide proof of insurance and to pay the cost of
City personnel required during this activity.
However, they have again requested that the rental fee
of $150. 00 be waived.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Administration recommends granting the Boy Scouts of
America 's request to utilize the Pier Park Bandshell on
February 27 , 1983 with the provision to waive the rental
fee but make all other rental requirements applicable.
