83-17232 4 r, RESOLUTION NO. 83-17232 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA PERTAINING TO SUBSIDIZED HOUSING WITHIN THE REDEVELOPMENT AREA. WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Plan for the South Shore Area contemplated the construction of the number of units subsidized housing within said area, and WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency in conjunction with Related Housing Companies were able to obtain a commitment for 150 units of subsidized housing from the Department of Housing and Urban Development of the United States of America, and WHEREAS, it presently appears that the Redevelopment Plan will, in the near future, be amended since the present plan was not successful in attracting developers for the entire project, and WHEREAS, regardless of the nature of the amendments made to the present revised and restated Redevelopment Plan, it appears desirable that the Redevelopment Agency and/or the City make the greatest possible efforts to ensure the construction of said units of subsidized housing within the redevelopment area. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1: The City Commission hereby expresses its desire to see said units of subsidized housing constructed * or any other area approved by the City Commission, within the South Shore Area /regardless of whether redevelopment of the South Shore area continues under the auspices of the Redevelopment Agency, the City, or both the City and the Agency. Section 2 : In the event the City Commission becomes the Governing Board of the Miami Beach Redevelopment Agency, or in the event that the Agency becomes for any reason unable to assist Related Housing in conjunction with its proposal submitted and approved by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Redevelopment for said 150 units of *wording inserted prior to passage by the Commission on 1/5/83 subsidized housing, that the City will so assist Related Housing and do all things reasonably necessary to implement said subsidized housing project provided that nothing herein shall be deemed to be a commitment of the financial resources of the City of Miami Beach to said project without further action of the City Commission. Section 3: The City Commission directs the Agency to go forward with its efforts to cause such 150 units of subsidized housing to be constructed. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of January , 1983.
