RESOLUTION NO. 83-17243
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
APPROVING A PROCESS FOR THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A PRIVATE INDUSTRY
COUNCIL UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE
JOB TRAINING PARTNERSHIP ACT AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH OTHER
SOUTH FLORIDA EMPLOYMENT AND
TRAINING CONSORTIUM MEMBERS
ADOPTING SAID PROCESS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, by its Resolution #78-15792,
adopted December 6, 1978, entered into a Consortium Agreement with the
governments of Dade and Monroe Counties, and the Cities of Miami and Hialeah,
and designating the City Manager as official representative to said Consortium;
and
WHEREAS, said Resolution is in full force and effect; and
WHEREAS, said Consortium at its January 10, 1983 meeting,
tentatively approved a process for the establishment of a Private Industry Council
(PIC) under the provisions of the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) subject to
the review and approval of the governing bodies and/or Chief Elected Officials of
its members; and
WHEREAS, the members of the City Commission have reviewed the
proposed process, attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, the process has been reviewed by and recommended for
approval by the City Manager; and
WHEREAS, an Agreement to adopt said process has been
recommended by the City Manager, and said agreement has been approved by the
City Attorney as to legal form and sufficiency.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the process for establishing the
South Florida Employment and Training Consortium - Private Industry Council to be
appointed under the provisions of the Job Training Partnership Act be hereby
approved and the City Manager be hereby authorized to execute the Agreement to
adopt said process, a copy of which is attached hereto, for and in the name of the
City of Miami Beach.
