A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NUMBER 83-
17353 , WHICH PROVIDED FOR POSSIBLE
COMPENSATION AND RELOCATION COSTS TO QUALIFIED
RESIDENTS LIVING IN THE CONDEMNED AREA
SELECTED AS THE SITE FOR THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH POLICE AND COURTS FACILITY BY PROVIDING
FOR RELOCATION PAYMENTS TO THOSE LOW-INCOME
TENANTS WHO ARE CURRENT IN THEIR RENT
PAYMENTS .
WHEREAS, the construction of the Miami Beach police and
courts facility is a public project which has necessitated the
relocation of certain elderly residents currently living in the
area approved for site selection; and
WHEREAS, the residents are primarily low-income; and
WHEREAS , many such residents are entitled to
compensation based on the length and amount of their current
leases; and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City of Miami Beach
to fully compensate all those persons entitled to compensation
under the law; and
WHEREAS, such compensation shall be paid regardless of
whether the tenants have moved prior to acquisition; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach desires to pay
relocation expenses to those residents who are current in their
rent payment expenses as of the date of such relocation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that:
1. All of the above recitals are true and correct;
2. The City Commission directs the City Manager and the
City Attorney to exhaust every posssible source of funding to
assist in the relocation of low-income needy tenants who are
current in their rent payments, including but not limited to
utilization of Community Development funds, proceeds from the
general obligation bonds for this project, and other City
revenues. Furthermore, the guidelines adopted by the Community
Development Relocation Policy shall be utilized by the City

Manager and the City Attorney as a method of approaching this
problem.
