A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY =MISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO EXECUTE, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, A
CONTRACT WITH THE AETNA LIFE AND CASUALTY CO.
TO PROVIDE GROUP LIFE, ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND
DISMEMBERMENT, MEDICAL AND DENTAL INDEMNITY
COVERAGE FOR THOSE CITY EMPLOYEES ELIGIBLE
THEREFOR PURSUANT TO CITY OF MIAMI BEACH ORDIN-
ANCE NO. 1901.
WHEREAS, pursuant to City of Miami Beach Resolution
No. 32-17210, the City retained the consulting services of the
firm of Johnson and Higgins to evaluate both the fiscal status
of the City' s group insurance plan and the underwriting and ser-
vice performance of the incumbent group insurance carrier, Aetna
Life and Casualty; and
WHEREAS, through the competitive bidding process, pro-
posals responding to invitations to bid on group life, accidental
death and dismemberment, medical and dental indemnity coverage
were evaluated by Johnson and Higgins; and
WHEREAS, Johnson and Higgins, upon evaluation thereof,
recommended retention of the incumbent carrier, the Aetna Life and
Casualty Co. ; and
WHEREAS, t .e :Board of Trustees of the Retirement System
for General Employees and Elected Officials of the City of ,.:falai
Beach, on July 13 , l';63 , approved said recommendation; and
WHEREAS, the administration concurs therewith;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH:
That the Mayor be and the same is hereby authorized to
execute, on behalf of the City, a contract with the Aetna Life and
Casualty Co. providing group life, accidental death and dismember-
ment, medical and dental indemnity coverage for those City employees
eligible therefor pursuant to City of Miami Beach Ordinance No . 1901 .
