A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH ENDORSING THE CONCEPT OF THE
DEVELOPMENT OF COLONY THEATRE PERFORMING ARTS
CENTER, WASHINGTON AVENUE COMMERCIAL
REVITALIZATION, HOTEL REHABILITATION FINANCING
PROGRAM, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND INITIATION FUND
AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR AS CONSISTENT WITH
LOCAL PLANS AND REGULATIONS FOR THE PURPOSE OF
APPLYING FOR CERTAIN CORPORATE TAX CREDITS UNDER
FLORIDA LAW, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach supports and encourages the efforts of
neighborhoods to create a better living environment through self-help projects; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Development Corporation has been established to
meet human needs in the Community Development Target area within the jurisdiction of the
City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Development Corporation is working to develop
Colony Theatre Performing Arts Center, Washington Avenue Commercial Revitalization,
Hotel Rehabilitation Financing Program, Business Development and Initiation Fund and
Economic Development Seminar; and
WHEREAS, THE Miami Beach Development Corporation, in their efforts to
obtain private contributions for the five projects, have applied for approval of corporate
contribution tax credits against Florida Corporate Income Tax pursuant to Section 220.183,
Florida Statutes, 1980 Supplement; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the City of Miami Beach endorses the efforts of Miami Beach
Development Corporation to establish a Colony Theatre Performing Arts Center,
Washington Avenue Commercial Revitalization, Hotel Rehabilitation Financing Program,
Business Development and Initiation Fund and Economic Development Seminar.
SECTION 2. That the City of Miami Beach finds the development of the Colony
Theatre Performing Arts Center, Washington Avenue Commercial Revitalization, Hotel
Rehabilitation Financing Program,Bus inessDevelopment and Initiation Fund and Economic
Development Seminar, which has been provided to the City of Miami Beach.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by
the City Commission and shall be published as required by law.
PASSED and ADOPTED by the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida this 20th day of July, 1983.
