A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ENDORSING A
SIX-WEEK TRIAL PROGRAM TO PROMOTE INCREASED
TRAFFIC AND SALES ON LINCOLN ROAD MALL.
WHEREAS, the City Commission is desirous of promoting
increased traffic and sales on Lincoln Road Mall; and
WHEREAS, the Lincoln Road Mercantile Association,
Inc. , has proposed a six-week trial program to enhance the
traffic and sales on Lincoln Road Mall;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it endorses
the following specific activities recommended by the Association
in order to promote increased traffic and sales on the Mall:
1. Outside entertainment be permitted on the Mall
under special circumstances.
2. The vending of ice cream, by movable carts, be
permitted on the Mall by ice cream stores renting space on the
mall.
3. The City and/or merchants or property owners
subsidize the tram operation for said six-week period of time.
4 . The City to furnish signs on municipal parking
garage, stating that it is entrance to Mall.
5. One-week of sidewalk sales be permitted.
6 . The City to permit free parking for the six week
period between the hours of 3 :00 p.m. and 12 :00 midnight in lots
along Lincoln Road, as designated by the City Manager.
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that the Administration and
City Attorney are to recommend ordinances or permits for the
Commission' s approval to accomplish the above activities.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of Jul , 1983 .
